Cold Steel Shamshir review by Marty Stone
Those who wish to add an Persian Shamshir to their sword collection should try and get the one from Cold Steel. After all, few manufacturers are as good as Cold Steel when it comes to creating replicas of original swords.
The Shamshir from Cold Steel is certainly beautiful. The black colors of the scabbard and handle add an element of elegance in spite of its simplicity. The length of the blade is 30.5 inches while the overall length is 36-1/4 inches.
The grip has been crafted from faux buffalo horn. Due to its sleek design, it is easy to be considered about the level of grip offered by the handle. However, the end of the handle is shaped like a large knob. Between that and the cross guard, you will actually find yourself holding the sword rather comfortably.
The blade does not only have a low weight but also a curved appearance like an actual shamshir is supposed to be. The weight has been decreased considerably due to the fuller. The fuller follows the spine of the blade perfectly before ending around 5 inches from the tip. The curve has also been implemented nicely to ensure accuracy.
One thing you must remember about the blade is its sharpness. In fact, you can start cutting things with the Shamshir as soon as you take it out of the box. The blade is quite durable and nicely tempered. The fittings are also excellent.
There isn’t really any problem with the quality or the construction of the Shamshir by Cold Steel. On the other hand, its accuracy with the original swords can be debatable. It is easy to feel that the design reflects the modern interpretation of these swords instead of the original design of the Persian sword.
Overall, the Shamshir by Cold Steel is suitable for all kinds of purposes thanks to its quality of construction.
